                                                Celebrities’ Bad Behavior
“In a recent poll, 77 percent of respondents say young women celebrities like Britney Spears, Pairs Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan have too much influence on young girls.” (Hareyan) Celebrities’ bad behavior is covered more in news stories than positive behavior because people like drama, it brings more attention, & it shows how celebrities don’t live up to the good expectations.
First celebrities' bad behavior is covered more than positive behavior because people like drama. "It makes life interesting. Otherwise we would be bored of our boring lives." (Why are we so interested in other people's drama?, 2008) Many people believe that drama is exciting, so people like to take part in it. Also people like to know what’s happening & why.
Second, the bad behavior brings more attention to celebrities. When Lindsay Lohan was arrested in 2007 magazines, newspapers & news channels were covered in the story of her arrest, “Lindsay Lohan Arrested on Suspicion of DUI, Cocaine Possession After Car Chase” is what the page name read on July 25, 2007 on FoxNews.com. Another example of a headline that brought attention was “Paris Hilton Arrested for Cocaine Possession” (News, 2010). The bad behavior really did bring a lot of attention to the celebrities.
Last the bad behavior shows how celebrities don’t live up to the good expectations. When Lindsay Lohan was a child in the movie The Parent Trap, people figured she would be a good role model for young children, but when she first got arrested in 2007 all of that changed, she had a DUI and had cocaine possession. After this people didn’t think Lindsay Lohan was the good role model that others thought they knew, & after more time & more arrest people knew she could never live up to the expectations others had for role models.
In conclusion, celebrities’ bad behavior is covered more in news stories than positive behavior because it attracts more attention, it shows how celebrities don’t live up to the good expectations, & people like drama. Although people look up to these celebrities, it doesn’t always mean the celebrities are providing good examples with their bad behavior.
